I just have to address how Sam started a fake ad read for a VPN service to dog out influencers, as with the Coldcard hack a lot of YouTube influencers in crypto are apologizing for having recommended the Coldcard hardware wallets, many paid to advertise the Coinkite products, that resulted in people losing their life savings. Out of curiosity, I had purchased the Coldcard Q (my review) and experimented with it, but having looked into the organization, listened to interviews of the CEO who is profane, and seeing it was a like Amateur Radio project in engineering the hardware and writing the firmware (they are hams), it was just not something I would trust with significant value. Compare Coinkite to Trezor, who is actually a professional organization with qualified researchers and engineers who have been doing hardware wallets since 2014. And it’s hilarious that a lot of these influencers shilled Coldcards and cast aspersions towards Trezor devices, as Bitcoin maximalists didn’t like that they supported other cryptocurrencies (they do offer Bitcoin only firmware). Which brings me to my conclusion, whether it’s a podcast or YouTube channel, if they’re presenting ads, they’re basically a whore whose opinion you can’t trust. And any of the Bitcoin consultant agencies that recommended Coldcard hardware wallets for significant holdings are not to be trusted either, as they just didn’t do due diligence. And one particular organization, The Bitcoin Way, that advertises a lot in the space (how much do they charge for consultations?) actually recommended a Blockstream Jade yesterday, which requires a server connection to Blockstream to decrypt the seed phrase since it has no secure element, a tragic technical fail not to mention Epstein island Adam Back, a Bitcoin traitor, runs that company. So just don’t depend on influencer whores for your tech information and choices, and at a minimum do your own research into people or organizations in which you place trust.. As this would have saved many people their life savings in this particular instance…
