(Headline video below) As Lunduke is clear to mention, there were plans to remove X11 from Gnome and Ubuntu already (why?), even though Wayland isn’t completely ready. Some of us thought that it was just because it was newer with security advantages and not all the legacy code of X11 going back decades, but what has emerged is that this is an orchestrated agenda to extinguish X11 and replace it with Red Hat’s Wayland, and they’ve been holding up patches, improvements, and releases of X11, having captured the project which led to the fork of XLibre. It’s all making me think there is a significant reason for IBM and their property Red Hat doing this so underhandedly, and I hearken back to Microsoft’s plans with Recall and AI analysis (think analysis sent with telemetry you can’t control). It could be as simple as bossware spying on employees which has long been in use (AT&T had it before I left), or is there a plan to do with Linux what they’ve done with Android and iOS? And Microsoft and Apple have plans to lock down their operating systems to only being able to install software that is signed through their developer programs (for which they make money and have control). So is Wayland a foundational layer for digital ID with AI and locking down Linux PCs?
