Corporate America was already rolling out this type of technology when I was working for AT&T, as they would install bossware on your computer where it tracked you working and your boss could look in on your screen, and also capable of screenshots already. And call centers had been using it going back even further where supervisors could listen in on calls and see the agent’s screen. They also had corporate proxies that tracked where you went on the internet, and some companies even have the ability to activate the computer’s camera to see what you’re doing and invade your home’s privacy. Gone were the days when you could setup up an encrypted SSH connection out and have a dedicated browser using your SSH proxy so the corporate proxy couldn’t track what you were looking at. But they’re not going to be limited to tracking you like a dog on your computer, as they also want you to wear brain scanning headphones so they can monitor what you’re thinking and doing (brain implants are the end goal after headphones which is already in experimental use – WEF presentation below). Things are going to be a lot more oppressive than 1984 in the new technocracy, and Satya Nadella is really selling the technology as useful so they can get mass adoption outside corporate coercion. And Microsoft is one of the megacorps working on digital ID, vaccine passports, social credit scores…
