Gay people are seriously sick, as there is no logical reason to poke around in someone else’s waste hole, and God warned them that they would suffer the due penalty of their error. And Romans 1 points out that homosexuality is part of a morality slide as punishment for rejecting God, turned over, doing what should not be done. The wife and I was talking about it last night, and though we don’t eat out often and usually only on road trips, we agreed that if we walk into a restaurant and there was a clearly gay person working there, we’d leave and go somewhere else. I just don’t trust someone who plays in fecal matter to wash up properly afterwards, and we should all be aware of Grindr and how they hook up with randoms. It’s also worth pointing out that another evil group is contributing to this problem, and that’s white coats overprescribing antibiotics, causing all sorts of superbugs while also harming patients digestive systems… Also worth noting that the white coats love homosexuals, giving them life altering prescriptions and mutilating surgeries to profit from with no regard for their long-term wellbeing. For a laugh, go to the link and see the image I didn’t include.
Just when you thought we’d heard enough about diarrhea outbreaks in the US, along comes another stomach-churning story. And this one has a particularly disturbing twist… it’s spreading through the gay community like wild fire.
A bacterial infection that causes dysentery is spreading thanks to sexual contact, and scientists are warning that some of these strains are actually becoming so resistant to antibiotics that they are verging on becoming untreatable.
Yikes.
It’s a nasty little bacterium bug called Shigella, and if you’ve ever read about the horrors of dysentery during the days of the Oregon Trail, you already know how bad this disease can be.
Except now, instead of picking it up from contaminated drinking water or filthy living conditions, men are contracting it through sex.
Researchers have identified gay and bisexual men as the population experiencing the most rapid rise in these sexually transmitted cases.
And while the symptoms, like bloody diarrhea, cramping, dehydration, and all that horrific stuff, but the scariest part is what’s happening when doctors try to treat certain strains.
The bacteria already infects hundreds of thousands of Americans each year for a number of reasons, but the growing problem of antibiotic resistance is most likely due to the gay community.
And what’s happening here is a helluva lot worse than a few days of clenching your butt cheeks and running to the bathroom.
You don’t have to be a pioneer on the Oregon Trail to catch the bug that causes dysentery.
Nowadays, the infection is spreading more through sex — and evolving into something that’s “close to untreatable,” one expert said.
Shigella bacteria infect nearly half a million people in the US every year — causing diarrhea with blood or mucus (the hallmark of a dysentery infection), stomach pain, cramps, fever and vomiting.
Scientists are learning more about why the disturbing disease is spreading so quickly, and why it’s developing a resistance to treatment.
Spreading through sex
Shigella is a nasty illness that causes more than uncomfortable doo-doos. It can become life-threatening by dehydrating and depleting bodily fluids including blood, causing bacterial and septic shock, neurological complications, and internal bleeding and infection.
Bloody diarrhea, vomiting, severe stomach cramps, and possibly life-threatening complications sound like something out of a medical horror show.
And like we said, this infection isn’t new. Dysentery has been making human beings miserable for centuries. But the fast spreading through the gay community isn’t helping matters. It’s changing is how some strains are responding to the antibiotics doctors normally use to fight them.
Now, there are other ways this disease can spread.
Shigella can also spread through the fecal-oral route… which is basically microscopic traces of infected feces somehow make their way into another person’s mouth.
Lovely, right?
But this happens a lot through contaminated food, dirty hands, or unsafe drinking water. But the sexual activities in the gay community are kicking things up a notch.
New York Post:
The bacteria spreads through infected poop that gets into the mouth because of ill-washed hands, or swallowing tainted food or water. A minuscule amount — as few as 10 organisms — is enough to get you sick.
The population most likely to get infected are children under 5, who catch it at day care and schools from other kids who are just starting to learn about keeping themselves clean. Travelers to places where sanitation standards are lower, and people experiencing homelessness are also at higher risk.
But the population that’s experiencing one of the fastest rises in shigella infection are gay and bisexual men, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM). Experts say shigella is “endemic” to these communities, meaning it’s constant and regularly present.
A study in July showed that the spread of the disease through sex grew 15% faster year-over-year between 2015 and 2020 compared to spread through travel, food, or nursery outbreaks.
Ten organisms… that’s all that takes to make somebody seriously ill.
And when something that contagious starts making the rounds through gay sexual networks, you can see how quickly it can become a problem.
Researchers are very concerned about the rise in cases among gay and bisexual men, where sexual transmission has become an endemic… which means the infection has already established a regular presence in those groups.
And like we’ve seen before, the gay community isn’t paying attention.
New York Post:
Emerging evidence suggests that sex may even be the major route of transmission now, but it’s hard to tell when it’s not asked about when patients show up for medical care.
Experts say many people don’t realize Shigella can spread through sex — and that lack of awareness may be fueling infections.
“Many men who have sex with men are unaware of the serious and increasing risk posed by sexually transmitted Shigella,” said Cambridge geneticist Kate Baker, a lead author on the July study.
And this is a really dangerous blind spot when we’re dealing with an infection that can be life-threatening and resistant to drugs.
According to the research cited in the article, some patients were hospitalized for several days.
But like we said, the much bigger concern is the number of strains that are becoming resistant to the medications used to treat them.
New York Post:
The CDC reports that most drug-resistant shigella cases affected adult men. The strains of shigella spread through sex are serious. Research shows that those who contracted shigella through sex were hospitalized for four to five days, on average.
“This isn’t just one form of sexually transmissible diarrhea,” Baker told Science Alert.
“This is multiple overlapping variants emerging that are all quickly becoming resistant to the drugs we use to treat them. It’s highly likely that if you contracted your Shigella through sex, you require different treatment to someone who contracted it through travel.”
The rapid rise in sexually transmitted cases among gay men should be concerning and also infuriating to most people out there. Their irresponsibility and self-serving, often brazen attitude towards sex and safety are helping to create this growing resistance to antibiotics, and that could make future infections much harder to treat as well.
And the fact that so many gay people apparently don’t even realize dysentery can spread through sex only makes the situation worse and more irresponsible.
