A nice video of where motorcycles are with regards to automatic transmissions or just not needing to use a clutch lever. I’m old school with wanting a manual transmission and clutch, though the E-Clutch is interesting. And modern bikes have quick shifters combined with electronic manipulation, which came from racing, where you don’t need to use the clutch lever, which depending on implementation might be nice. Though the alarming thing with modern motorcycles is the throttle by wire and dependence on sensors for lean angle, wheel slippage, controlling traction control, anti-lock braking… so what happens if the computer malfunctions while you’re riding, as that could be dangerous. How many accidents attributed to rider error was a software or hardware glitch, especially in the age of inadequately vetted AI created code? Consequently, the sportbike I rode for nearly twenty years was the last year of carburation with no computer, and I was always in control and it always worked well and as expected with the only negative being the use of the choke on cold starts.
