I have a theory on the Antichrist being the Muslim Mahdi, Muslim Messiah, who will be the crown prince of Dubai, as the UAE is made up of seven emirates, the seven heads, with the UAE being one crown of the ten horns, a military coalition of nations under the Mahdi which will include Saudi Arabia. But this additional reference of seven hills and the great harlot adds another interpretation. But something to consider is that pagan religions in Biblical times involved temple prostitutes and sexual immorality, so the great prostitute is a false religion.

Revelation 17:1–13

The Great Prostitute and the Beast

[1] Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great prostitute who is seated on many waters, [2] with whom the kings of the earth have committed sexual immorality, and with the wine of whose sexual immorality the dwellers on earth have become drunk.” [3] And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns. [4] The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality. [5] And on her forehead was written a name of mystery: “Babylon the great, mother of prostitutes and of earth’s abominations.” [6] And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.

When I saw her, I marveled greatly. [7] But the angel said to me, “Why do you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast with seven heads and ten horns that carries her. [8] The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come. [9] This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated; [10] they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while. [11] As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction. [12] And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast. [13] These are of one mind, and they hand over their power and authority to the beast. (ESV)

And around Mecca (Makkah) are seven mountains with millions performing the Haj, or pilgrimage, yearly, and it’s something all Muslims must do once in their lifetime, or sponsor someone to visit in their place.

Interestingly, Antichrist, the Mahdi, after he establishes control with the false prophet Isa, Jesus, performing miraculous signs will break from the religion of his fathers, but we’ll save that for another post.

They will make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and burn her up with fire, [17] for God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and handing over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. 2. Jabal Al Nour

Translated as “The Mountain of Light,” Jabal Al Nour is situated on the outer borders of the holy city. Jabal Al Nour is quite popular amongst tourists because it provides a magnificent view of the holy mosque and all of Makkah. The mountain also features the Ghar-e-Hira, which translates to the Cave of Hira. It is believed that during ancient times, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to meditate in this cave. It is also considered the birthplace of Islam and the place where the Prophet had his first revelations of the holy Quran.

How to reach: The mountain is located in Makkah Province, Hejaz, Saudi Arabia. Tourists can hire a cab from anywhere in Makkah to reach the location.

3. Jabal Omar

Located six hundred meters toward the holy mosque’s northern side, Jabal Omar is the center of small suburban neighborhoods. Though the mountain is not very high, it is still very popular among the pilgrims and tourists. Saudi Arabia’s government proposed a project that has started shaping the mountain differently. The gray mountain will soon be filled with several luxury hotels and apartments. These luxury lodgings will also provide guests with a captivating view of the Holy Kaaba.

How to reach: It is located on the southern side of the Al-Haram district, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Tourists visiting Makkah can rent a cab or use public transport to reach the mountain.

4. The Thabir Mountain

A popular opinion amongst historians suggests that it is the place where Allah had sent the scapegoat to Prophet Ibrahim just when he was about to sacrifice his son. This is one of the significant events that shaped the history of Islam and is held close to the Muslim community. Muslims from around the world regularly visit this mountain annually to practice sacrificing goats, sheep and cows to reflect on the historic event.

How to reach: The Thabir Mountain is a part of the Hejaz Mountain range and is just opposite Jabal Al Nour. The best mode of transport is a rented cab.

5. Jabal Khandama

They are also one of the Middle East’s most renowned real estate developers. The project will expand the prayer area and construct many facilities to increase pilgrims’ visits.

How to reach: The mountain is located behind Jabal Omar and should not be missed while visiting the latter.

6. Abu Qubais Mountain

Probably the most significant of all the seven mountains, Abu Qubais Mountain currently acts as a foothold for a Royal Palace. It is located close to Mountain Safa. Abu Qubais Mountain is famous among tourists because several important historical events occurred there. It serves as a pillar of Makkah and is considered the first mountain to be created by Allah. It is also believed that when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was building a house for Allah, he used rocks from the mountain of Abu Qubais. Prophet Adam is believed to have passed away on this very mountain. This is why the mountain holds immense importance in the hearts of Muslims.

7. Quaiqian Mountain
