Iran Used Cluster Missile In Morning Attack On Israel

This is a bad look for Iran in using cluster munitions while attacking civilians. Not that Israel doesn’t kill some civilians, but they’re mostly targeting military capabilities or leadership. A theory is floating that the whole conflict could be orchestrated behind closed doors, and why the killing hasn’t been more severe. With it serving as a smoke screen of sorts so hardliners in the Iran military and government can be removed, all to pave the way for an eventual agreement. Also, this is hurting China that was getting great rates on Iranian oil because of sanctions, and severely limiting Iran’s inclusion into BRICS along with China’s Belt and Road initiative. And the timing of the Hormuz Straight being blocked due to a collision is also odd, as the OCGFC stand to make a lot of money if the price of oil spikes up to $120 to $130 a barrel. And the Owners and Controllers of Global Financialized Capital are always working many angles in their world manipulations to further enrich themselves.

Iran launched at least one ballistic missile carrying a cluster warhead at central Israel during the attack on June 19 morning, according to the Home Front Command of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced.

The missile’s warhead splits while descending, at an altitude of around seven kilometers, spreading around 20 smaller munitions at a radius of around eight kilometers, the command said, adding that the submunitions do not have any propulsion, and simply fly away randomly to the ground.

One of the small submunitions struck a home in the central town of Azor, causing some damage, equivalent to a small rocket.

An Israeli military official said that such a missile poses a threat to a much wider area than Iran’s other ballistic missile warheads, but the explosion from each of the cluster bombs is far smaller.

The Israeli announcement was not surprising considering that Iran is known to have developed several types of cluster warheads for its ballistic missiles, especially for the medium-range Shahab family. Details on these warheads are, however, very scarce.

The morning missile attack, which saw Iran launching some 30 ballistic missiles, was the most devastating so far. Multiple impacts were reported in the city of Beersheba in southern Israel, and the areas of Holon and Ramat Gan in the Tel Aviv District in the center of the country with reports indicating that over 240 people were wounded.

According to the IDF, Iran has launched more than 400 ballistic missiles and 1,000 suicide drones since the start of the Israeli attack on its nuclear program, codenamed Operation Risin Lion on June 13.

These retaliatory attacks have so far claimed the lives of more than 25 people and left more than 500 others wounded in Israel.
