I’ve done a previous post about musical artists that start strong, but end poorly. And we’re just talking facts, as I’m not their judge. And when you find success in entertainment, strong temptations will follow along with industry compromise. But this song from his first CD shows understanding of the Christian walk, even stating we’re supposed to separate ourselves from the world.
Interestingly, he made the following song actually confronting Satan, the leader of the angels that rebelled against God, with those not imprisoned ruling the earth within constraints imposed by God.
And you’d have to say the challenge was accepted. And the cracks started with this track where he talks about being tempted by another woman. It’s an excellent track for the genre.
He went from Wanna to actually gonna, breaking up his marriage. And clearly the divorce by the wife is justified for adultery.
Going back to the first song I presented, there is a lot of worldly pyschobabble going on in that interview. I didn’t remember it, but in the interview is a mention of an event with Joel Olsteen, the false teacher sounding like it was in the hood. Another Christian artist I enjoyed, Tauren Wells, became part of Olsteen’s false church involved in music, and that’s an interesting connection. Suffices to say, I haven’t paid much attention to where Christon’s career has gone, but it looks like he might of lost much of his Christian fan base, and dropped off. And we’re left with what could have been if he kept walking with God who would have helped his projects prosper beyond human capability.
There is something to be learned from King David, who had one of his soldiers murdered to cover up adultery with his wife and her being pregnant, but King David repented and returned to God. There is a difference between returning to God and His ways instead of twisting your worldview to incorporate your sin without truly repenting. Even still, King David suffered consequences for his sin, as the life of his baby was taken and his son led a revolt to steal the kingdom from him. But God also said this was a man after His own heart, because he would return to Him no matter what he had done.
