Interesting documentary on the anchor outs in the SF Bay area. Multimillionaires living around the bay with their boats in the marina don’t want to look at old boats marring their scenery, so they use the wheels of government to remove the eyesores. Given the law suits, it would seem they are exceeding their authority, and some of the boats are maintained well enough. And actually, if your boat is in working condition and capable of sailing, there is a huge delta and river area that feeds into the San Francisco Bay and you could move around and still find services. And the inland areas would be much safer during inclement weather.
A little more background on one person who took a housing voucher to relocate. And you can reasonably conclude he was saved from a terrible life on his boat, and it appeared the videographer wouldn’t even set foot inside it.
Consequently, I’ve seen some pretty poorly cared for boats in marina stalls in the SF Bay, Half Moon Bay, Monterey Bay… so it would seem to make you wonder if there is a double standard at work.
