First, I’m a big fan of the Arkansas State Troopers and watch just about all of their pursuit videos as well as applauding their use of the PIT maneuver to end pursuits. And as a lot is being made to hype this story because of the drunk illegal alien angle for the presidential election, I’m not that fond of this little female trooper’s tactics which caused this situation to be much more dangerous. It just wasn’t a good move to go hands on, and I think she was way too aggressive with the taser use. She should have stalled with asking for documents and waited for backup. Or at the very least commanded him to come out while holding the taser on him at distance as I’ve seen other female officers do. Or held him at gunpoint until backup arrived. it’s a glaring example that women in law enforcement are at a strength disadvantage and need to vary their tactics. And I’ve seen male troopers struggle with some criminals when going hands on. So I think she should be disciplined for this encounter which also put a civilian in harm’s way, but then she’s probably learned a lesson that she’s not going to strong arm even a small male going forward, who could take her firearm and use it against her.
