During the Digital Learning Net on XLX303D last night also bridged to Brandmeister TG 31088, Bucky, W0SUN, mentioned the DMR Unification Project, and they have a great DMR presentation video embedded on their front page that goes into using networks other than Brandmeister, while trying to normalize talk groups and bridge or peer networks. Not that Brandmeister is bad, but there are these American server admins that are frankly just obnoxious while showing disdain for their users. If you run afoul of them or their changing unpublished rules, they will just block you from the network (why I use the Canadian server to have nothing to do with them). Consequently, the presentation covers the issues the presenters have had with Corey Dean, N3FE, and other American Brandmeister admins. And worth pointing out, your DMR hotspot has DMRGateway which supports having 5 DMR networks active using talk group translation (a couple slots are limited to DMR Plus and YSF), and you can also try VE3RD’s DMRGateway that supports 6 networks with isolation. So you aren’t limited to Brandmeister, and these other networks are doing some very interesting things with their software.
