FedEx joins in on license plate reading with a weird agreement for police to share data back with FedEx. They are rolling this out to many megacorps to expand coverage which will expand greatly where your car is spotted to track your movements. As I like to point out, I watched videos from a repossession specialist years ago who used this technology to sweep parking lots and also looked up where vehicles had been spotted, with one instance where he figured out one person was working at a shopping mall with an idea of their schedule and subsequently repossessed their car. This would all be alright if they deleted all the data for law abiding citizens who were in good standing with registration, insurance and payments; but we’re in a time of government overreach as well as collecting and selling of people’s data to the government among others. It’s all part of a digital Panopticon being erected around the population with the intention to use it to control the conduct of citizens and get them to self censor their behavior, or lock them up if they go against the government like the Jan 6th “mostly peaceful” protestors that spent years in jail and were egregiously prosecuted. It’s not going to end well.
