We noticed this being built off the freeway about a week or so ago, and I just thought it was a truck stop. But it is a car and RV only convenience store on steroids and currently the largest in America (seems each new location breaks their own record), privately owned with a lot of edibles made in house including BBQ, fudge and candied nuts. Another interesting thing they carry is ethanol free gasoline primarily for boats and small engines. And Cowboy Daily had a nice write up on Buc-ee’s for more detail with quite a few pictures. So intrigued, after returning from a 25 mile bicycle ride around town yesterday, the wife and I drove down to check out Buc-ee’s. The BBQ sandwich and fresh chips were good along with candied nuts and Beaver Nuggets, but they use the same GMO seed oils as everyone else along with other processed food poisons which was disappointing as they make many things fresh in house (you can do a lot better Buc-ee’s). Consequently, it is an attraction as the place was packed and parking was difficult to find. And the Colorado weirdos were out in force, but not quite as bad as going in a Trader Joe’s in the college town of Fort Collins. But really, when did thin yoga pants become acceptable public apparel, and some of you women should be ashamed to show yourselves in such an unflattering way. So, if on a road trip going that far south we might stop in for the BBQ sandwich and fresh chips as healthy fast food options are limited, and if needing to stop for fuel I would give their ethanol free gasoline a try.
