KDE Tweak to Fix Mouse Pointer Bug in Wayland Under VMware

If you’re using VMware to run GNU/Linux distributions with KDE Plasma, there is a weird bug with with the mouse pointer where it changes to the inappropriate pointer, e.g. instead of a normal pointer you see the text editor pointer though you’re not editing text. Adding the following to /etc/environment fixes the issue.

KWIN_FORCE_SW_CURSOR=1

Consequently, one of my distributions I run is Debian Trixie (unstable – latest packages in Debian development), and after an update KDE X11 is crashing systemd, but I can still run XFCE X11 and KDE Wayland. But this mouse bug was why I kept to X11. And since Wayland is the future of display servers on Linux with more distributions defaulting to Wayland, with this tweak you can run Wayland in VMware.
