God’s Warning to False Teachers

A prophet was one who God gave direct revelation, who spoke literally the words from God as recorded in our scripture today. This was a man that was to have been affirmed by making future predictions that only God could know, verifying he really did speak for God. Consequently, God is unchanging, so we see a consistency in scripture from before He separated Israel from the other nations for himself all the way to today. The old testament was constantly pointing to Jesus Christ who was to be the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world, and for those that turned from their evil ways to God, the source of their restoration as Christ took their punishment and God’s justice upon himself. But even beyond the false Satanic religions we have many in the “Christian church” that are giving new revelation from God that contradicts scripture, even if all don’t go by the title prophet today they are giving false new words as though from God. And God has some serious words for such men and women.

Jeremiah 23:18–32

[18] For who among them has stood in the council of the LORD
    to see and to hear his word,
    or who has paid attention to his word and listened?
[19] Behold, the storm of the LORD!
    Wrath has gone forth,
a whirling tempest;
    it will burst upon the head of the wicked.
[20] The anger of the LORD will not turn back
    until he has executed and accomplished
    the intents of his heart.
In the latter days you will understand it clearly.

[21] “I did not send the prophets,
    yet they ran;
I did not speak to them,
    yet they prophesied.
[22] But if they had stood in my council,
    then they would have proclaimed my words to my people,
and they would have turned them from their evil way,
    and from the evil of their deeds.

[23] “Am I a God at hand, declares the LORD, and not a God far away? [24] Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the LORD. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the LORD. [25] I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in my name, saying, ‘I have dreamed, I have dreamed!’ [26] How long shall there be lies in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies, and who prophesy the deceit of their own heart, [27] who think to make my people forget my name by their dreams that they tell one another, even as their fathers forgot my name for Baal? [28] Let the prophet who has a dream tell the dream, but let him who has my word speak my word faithfully. What has straw in common with wheat? declares the LORD. [29] Is not my word like fire, declares the LORD, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces? [30] Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, declares the LORD, who steal my words from one another. [31] Behold, I am against the prophets, declares the LORD, who use their tongues and declare, ‘declares the LORD.’ [32] Behold, I am against those who prophesy lying dreams, declares the LORD, and who tell them and lead my people astray by their lies and their recklessness, when I did not send them or charge them. So they do not profit this people at all, declares the LORD. (ESV)

The revelation of God for this age has been sealed until we enter the final week of Daniel, when the focus of the world goes back to Israel and the antichrist rules with his false prophet. For this age we have the rich word of God preserved through thousands of years in His Bible so we could know the meaning of life, being restored to our maker by laying our life down and turning from doing what is right in our own eyes to following Him. But today so many men shamelessly make up their own revelations from God and pervert His word, and do they think they can escape God’s justice?

Jude 3–4

Judgment on False Teachers

[3] Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. [4] For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
