Surveillance: Automated License Plate Readers

I’m reading a good book, Battlefield America: The War on the American People by John W. Whitehead, but like a lot of articles that cover the license plate reader technology, it doesn’t give the full story of how insidious this is. And so you know how good this technology is, when I lived in Northern California they had switched over the Golden Gate Bridge to reading license plates if you didn’t have a Fastrak device after removing toll booths, and we went across the bridge twice before we left and I was billed via mail both times. The angle I want to highlight is that it is just not government license plate readers whether fixed or on law enforcement vehicles, but private companies also use this technology. Well over a decade ago I used to watch this repo tow truck driver on YouTube who had this technology on his tow truck, and when he cruised around looking for vehicles he was collecting data on where cars were located. Consequently, he even used the database to look up where potential repossession targets had been seen with one particular vehicle caught at the mall because the person worked there. Private companies, the government, and law enforcement have detailed records on where vehicles travel and have been spotted to a degree that should be alarming, especially as we see the federal government target enemies of the state whether Jan 6th mostly peaceful protestors, or more recently pro-life protesters being subjected to SWAT raids and federal prosecution for things that are not really that serious compared to many cities releasing real criminals and not even prosecuting them. The mechanisms for totalitarian control are erected all around us, and they are much further along than most of us realize.
