Exposing the PayPal Honey Influencer Scam – PayPal is Stealing Commissions

Update: Class action lawsuit video added at bottom.

PayPal started as a great company, providing a safe way to transact on the internet during the shaky time of questionable credit card security. But in typical megacorp fashion, they grew too big and greedy, and now they collect fees towards the high end of credit card fees, and can fine vendors for certain conduct. A while back they floated the idea of fining users with questionable political views which forced a lot of us to close our PayPal accounts which were linked to our bank accounts (today you don’t really need PayPal as credit cards have smart chips generating new numbers, and you can use virtual credit card numbers online insulating you from any fraud). Now enter in their $4 billion acquisition of Honey which is a browser extension to find you discount codes on purchases. Normally these are spying operations to track you and your internet behavior including purchase history which can be monetized, but Honey is actually ripping off commissions from affiliate links, and even letting vendors limit discounts violating their claims to find you the best discounts. It’s just greedy and unethical megacorp behavior reflecting on the board and the OCGFC who placed them. And there is even more to come in following episodes. So beware extensions and applications you install on any computer, as beyond tracking you they might be actively scamming you and others too.

Adding commentary by an attorney. The implication being massive class action lawsuit and that this story will blow up.

Class action lawsuit filed.
