I take the upside down cross as a Satanic symbol whenever used, and the Catholic church is full of Satanic symbolism which makes my point. Doing it with your hands in a ritualistic fashion confirms its human tradition with many manmade traditions in the Catholic Church actually going against scripture. After all, the Roman Catholic Church is a human works based religion with actual idolatry, statues of Mary and the saints, praying to Mary and the Saints, when Jesus is our high priest and we have direct access to the Father through Jesus. And calling a man Father and confessing sins to him as God’s representative goes against Christ’s own words and is just a way to gather intelligence and control men for political and financial gain (the Catholic Church has an intelligence branch greater than most nations). And to make my point about the Catholic organization, how many pedophiles have they had in their midst abusing children for centuries while covering it all up? And even if attributing the symbolism to Peter being crucified upside down per church tradition, this minimizes the cross and it’s purpose in the church, as it is supposed to represent Christ taking our punishment upon Himself so we could be reconciled to God through the gift of Grace through faith in Jesus alone, trusting in Jesus and His promises to us. So whenever you see someone make the symbol of the upside down cross on their body, that’s a giant red flag that something is seriously wrong.

So, what is the meaning of an upside-down cross? It depends on the context. When the symbol is used in a church setting, it is most likely a reference to Peter and the manner of his death. In other contexts the inverted cross is often an anti-Christian symbol. In our fallen world, holiness is often mocked and what is good and pure is twisted by the “god of this age” (2 Corinthians 4:4). The cross, a symbol of Christ, is turned upside down to become a symbol of the devil.

I was prompted to write this because I was investigating a Christian artist connected to Asbury Church in Tulsa. I started watching their too young pastor in his current fashion suit a size too small with too much of a modern entertainment style, and right out of the gait he was doing the upside down cross. Notice below, that they have a huge Asherah pole as a feature of their church building. In fairness to the church, they broke from the homosexual, transsexual, and liberal theology promoting Methodist denomination, and their beliefs listed on their website are good with the exception of recognizing the Catholic church traditions. But on the positive, they focus on the Bible, so members who actually spend time in the word should build their discernment and extract themselves.
And to make my point about Asherah poles included in false religions and their “temples”, the planned Mormon temple they’re trying to build in Cody, WY, facing opposition from locals because it would ruin their views.
