Jeremiah 9

If you boiled down scripture to the point of it all, you can’t get much more to the point than this.

Jeremiah 9:23–24

[23] Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, [24] but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD.” (ESV)

And this warning was for Judah, but you can apply it to any nation as the God of love, justice and righteousness will only suffer a nation so long until their sin reaches its fullness.

Jeremiah 9:4–9

[4] Let everyone beware of his neighbor,
    and put no trust in any brother,
for every brother is a deceiver,
    and every neighbor goes about as a slanderer.
[5] Everyone deceives his neighbor,
    and no one speaks the truth;
they have taught their tongue to speak lies;
    they weary themselves committing iniquity.
[6] Heaping oppression upon oppression, and deceit upon deceit,
    they refuse to know me, declares the LORD.


[7] Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts:
“Behold, I will refine them and test them,
    for what else can I do, because of my people?
[8] Their tongue is a deadly arrow;
    it speaks deceitfully;
with his mouth each speaks peace to his neighbor,
    but in his heart he plans an ambush for him.
[9] Shall I not punish them for these things? declares the LORD,
    and shall I not avenge myself
    on a nation such as this? (ESV)

And God said the “land vomited out its inhabitants” for their uncleanness, and these are the same sins celebrated and legislated in the United States of America. And worth pointing out, some will find the perversion of lying with animals repugnant, but God placed that next to adultery, homosexual relations, sacrificing children… Will this nation escape God’s judgement? If you read Romans 1, the judgement of America has already begun.

Leviticus 18:20–25

[20] And you shall not lie sexually with your neighbor’s wife and so make yourself unclean with her. [21] You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the LORD. [22] You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. [23] And you shall not lie with any animal and so make yourself unclean with it, neither shall any woman give herself to an animal to lie with it: it is perversion.

[24] “Do not make yourselves unclean by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am driving out before you have become unclean, [25] and the land became unclean, so that I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. (ESV)
