Another Deadly Pile-Up on Interstate 80 in Wyoming

Back in early March of 2020 the wife and I had packed up our belongings and headed from Northern California to our new home in Cheyenne, Wyoming (finally a red state). First we were stopped with chain restrictions over the Sierra, but then they had two deadly pile-ups on both sides of I-80 near the continental divide that forced us to hold up in Evanston, Wyoming for two days, and we had to do our home closing remotely. And when we were finally able to head out I noticed a lot of truck drivers were just going too fast, especially when there were slushy and icy sections over the continental divide. Consequently, it’s a conundrum for WY DOT, as conditions are safe enough to open roads, but the drivers are not. And our trip was further delayed by high winds having us hold up in Rawlins, WY for one more night before we finally made it to our new home to Cheyenne. Winter conditions at this high of elevation just aren’t something to rush through and take chances with.
