There is a really alarming part of this report that I haven’t seen anywhere else, and it’s police officers who know Flock ALPR cameras misread characters, so when they enter in license plates for their alerts, they’re purposely putting in different versions of the plate. Consequently, they’re actually inputting wrong license plates that may belong to innocent people. And there is just a lack of vetting the information when the Flock systems issues an alert, and blindly following through. At least until they’re sued, so after big payouts they’ll implement some reform. Not only are they a violation of our fourth amendment rights, but they’re just not very good as they quote 93% accuracy which is terrible when dealing with billions of plate captures. Why is any municipality paying for this system? And there is the cultural rot within our society that is working its way into law enforcement.
