Going along those lines, was the change from Trezor’s code to new code with a restrictive license all to disincentivize others looking at this code and leaving this entropy bug active for as long as possible? The single address used to make tracking that stage of the theft visible does seem to point to an ulterior motive in damaging self-custody and Bitcoin a week before BIP-110 goes active, and perfect fodder for the disinformation in the media and AI that BIP-110 was canceled right before activation.
Consequently, I only have a low power Bitaxe Bitcoin miner to support the Bitcoin network (about $2 a month in electricity), only really worth running as a lotto miner to claim a whole block reward, but chances are low. And since my main Bitcoin node is just a Raspberry Pi 5 with 8GB or ram, I can’t really use it to form blocks with the UTXO bloat exceeding memory. So going into the possible chain split with BIP-110, I’ve pointed it to PyBlock to signal BIP-110 and follow that chain. Supposedly, if the miners and Big Bitcoin try to hold out against BIP-110, there may be a new hard fork version of Bitcoin Knots to adjust the difficulty so the BIP-110 chain lives on, and miners on that chain might have a significant chance to mine blocks and claim the whole reward. If a hard fork happens, we should end up with a way to split existing holdings on both chains. Another battle for Bitcoin could be people converting those holdings from one side to the other like what happened with Bitcoin Cash.
A side note, in preparation for the possible chain split, I closed Bitcoin Lightning channels and secured my Bitcoin. There was a reported outage with Boltz, so before the BIP-110 enforcement, you might not want to have any funds tied up in channels with the uncertainty of how the chain split progresses, or on Liquid Bitcoin which certainly won’t support the BIP-110 chain. And BIP-110 enforcement will hit sometime Saturday.
