Mexicans Reject Government Mandate to Register Phones – The Digitization of Mexico is Not Going Well

An interesting boots on the ground report from Mexico about the biometric identification requirements to keep your mobile phone number. Interesting that he said bank to bank transactions of Mexicans are private, so I guess they haven’t done their version of America’s Bank Secrecy Act, which forces banks to report transactions and anything suspicious. And it’s an interesting dilemma, trying to force this type of biometric ID requirement on citizens will hurt the phone companies as they just won’t do it. Will this force the megacorps to reign in the politicians and halt the global government push in countries where a majority of citizens reject it? And the FCC has floated doing something similar here in the US.
