The $94 Million Smart Meter Surveillance Scheme Exposed

I used to be a SMUD customer, and I guess I’m lucky when I had a Bitcoin miner it wasn’t a modern version that sucks up a lot more electricity. It was back around 2014 when I bought an ASIC miner used as an experiment while learning about Bitcoin, running a miner and a node on a Pi 2. You were basically turning electricity money into Bitcoin with a slight profit (great for privacy), and an interesting experiment that demonstrated the power of the Bitcoin protocol. Notice that because SMUD and the Sacramento Police are violating the constitution of the state and country, people that fought the fines didn’t have to pay. And SMUD is the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, where you get to vote on the board and not a normal corporation, so it’s extremely disappointing they were violating residents rights so egregiously, and it says something really important about the Sacramento Police leadership and their integrity as well. And really, all this surveillance being pushed is for lazy law enforcement which is systematically being made less moral and less professional in a push to eventually nationalize it like the TSA.
