John MacArthur Announces Return: ‘I Feel Great. I’m Ready to Come Roaring Back Into the Public’

Good news on John MacArthur. I had heard from a Lon Solomon message that he was having to undergo dialysis. Hopefully kidney function will return, but could be a side effect of the pharmaceuticals they’ve put him on. Consequently, he let the white coats do too much and is blessed to still be alive. If the extraction of the church is indeed close, I’d like to see him make it to that marvelous moment.

A month after sharing a video message with Shepherd Conference attendees expressing his great sadness and disappointment at not being able to attend the event, reflecting that he was on his “last lap,” pastor John MacArthur of Grace Community Church has revealed that he’s back in the recording studio this week and that he feels ‘great.’

MacArthur, 85, has been away from the pulpit for the better part of a year, battling a series of health issues, setbacks, and complications stemming from multiple heart surgeries he had in the back half of 2024.

GTY Director Phil Johnson shared on X that MacArthur was back to recording messages that would begin airing in early June and that while his voice is “noticeably weak, his thoughts are as cogent as ever.”

John MacArthur was at Grace to You for a recording session today —his first recordings since last November.

A similar message was posted to John MacArthur’s X account, where he revealed:

I feel fine. I’m not ill at all. My heart is working well. My lungs are working well. Yeah, so there’s nothing terminal that I’m experiencing. There’s no heart failure. In fact, my heart is probably stronger now than it’s been in the last decade of my life. I’m under good care from the doctors. The issue for me was when they were trying to regulate everything, because I had a lung surgery and three heart procedures. They put me in the hospital and I had to be there seven weeks. So all I can say at this point is I feel great. I’m ready to come roaring back into the public and pick up my ministry again.

The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated. 🤓 So thankful to the Lord for your prayers as I continue to recover. pic.twitter.com/rRCz3ebAIM— John MacArthur (@johnmacarthur) April 16, 2025

An answer to prayer for sure.
