Nevertheless, I still regularly comb through journals and news sites, ensuring we don\u2019t miss anything potentially important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During one such search yesterday evening I found this article<\/a> in the journal Science<\/em>, its title asking simply:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Why hasn\u2019t the bird flu pandemic started?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n \u2026and, you know what, that\u2019s a good question. Why hasn\u2019t<\/em> the bird flu pandemic started?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Not literally, of course. The bird flu \u201cpandemic\u201d won\u2019t ever<\/em> really start. If or when it is declared it will be a lie, just like Covid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The question is why haven\u2019t they started the big roll out yet?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n That is obviously the plan after all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The establishment has been signposting \u201cthe next pandemic\u201d since before Covid sidled off the world stage. \u201cPandemic preparedness\u201d has been a buzz phrase at all the intergovernmental panels and UN summits for at least two years. All the indications were that bird flu was the anointed successor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But it\u2019s all come to nothing so far.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Bird flu hasn\u2019t become \u201cthe next pandemic\u201d, it hasn\u2019t become really anything at all, it\u2019s barely even grazed the major news cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Instead, the story has been stuck in a strange holding pattern, circling around with dire warnings of imminent danger, only to swoop away from the runway before its wheels touch down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A pot that never boils despite the fact nobody\u2019s really watching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Why hasn\u2019t the bird flu pandemic happened yet? What are they waiting for?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Well, Donald Trump, apparently, amongst other things.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n That\u2019s isn\u2019t speculation, it\u2019s definite messaging. It looks as if some sort of narrative about Trump failing to do enough, or the right things to handle the \u201ccrisis\u201d might be in the offing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Earlier today, MSNBC ran the headline<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Why the threat of bird flu makes Trump\u2019s transition problematic \u2013 Could an unqualified public health leadership team deal with a new pandemic?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n Mother Jones thinks<\/a> \u201cAvian Flu Could Define Trump\u2019s Second Presidency\u201d, the Nation<\/a> asks simply \u201cWill There Be a Bird Flu Epidemic Under Trump?\u201d, AXIOS claims Trump\u2019s potential bird flu response \u201craises alarms\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n NOTUS is already explaining why Trump\u2019s planned mass deportations will make bird flu worse<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On November 26th, a guest article in the New York Times<\/a> headlined \u201cI Ran Operation Warp Speed. I\u2019m Concerned About Bird Flu\u201d<\/em>, which opens:<\/p>\n\n\n\n As Donald Trump gets ready to return to the White House on Jan. 20, he must be prepared to tackle one issue immediately: the possibility that the spreading avian flu might mutate to enable human-to-human transmission.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n Hmmm\u2026 so why must Trump be prepared to tackle bird flu \u201cimmediately\u201d when they admit it has been hovering around being essentially harmless for two years already? Are they perchance conditioning us for what they already know they have planned?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond Trump, the bird flu narrative has been migrating to the front pages in the weeks since the election (just in time to drive up the price of Thanksgiving and Christmas turkeys too \u2013 every little helps in the drive to impoverish and immiserate the 99%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n On November 25th, New York magazine<\/a> was warning us about the USA\u2019s \u201calarming bird flu strategy\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The next day, the Independent<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Experts say bird flu is more widespread than we think: \u2018We are in a soup of virus\u2019<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n The New Scientist<\/a> says \u201cH5N1 bird flu is closer to gaining pandemic potential than we thought\u201d<\/em>, Scientific American<\/a> that \u201cBird Flu Virus Is One Mutation Away from Binding More Efficiently to Human Cells\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These are both stories from the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Earlier today, TIME published a long piece headlined<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s Time to End the Denial About Bird Flu<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n There are other developments to \u2013 some potentially a lot more meaningful than your run-of-the-mill fear porn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On November 19th, a child in Canada reportedly tested positive<\/a> for bird flu without coming into contact with birds or animals. The next day, the same exact thing was reported in California<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These \u201ccases\u201d allegedly indicate \u201cthe virus is showing signs of adaptation to human hosts\u201d<\/em>.<\/strong> A Dutch study done on ferrets<\/a> and published three days ago, claims the latest variant of bird flu shows increased aerial transmissibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Just today, the US government ordered that \u2013 going forward \u2013 all milk has to be screened for bird flu<\/a> before being pasteurized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We\u2019re being told about new test kits too<\/a>, a breakthrough that can distinguish flu strains in just 3 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The European Union has announced they will be \u201cincreasing monitoring\u201d for bird flu going forward. Euractiv reports<\/a> \u201cEurope increases bird flu monitoring \u2013 is it the next Disease X?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Chinese experts are warning that another strain<\/a> \u2013 H2N2 rather than H5N1 \u2013 may have already jumped to humans. The Chinese government is reportedly planning to increase testing and surveillance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the UK, the Cambridge University journal Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology<\/em> published new recommendations<\/a> for the potential containment of avian influenza in \u201chealthcare settings\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And of course there\u2019s the vaccines, let\u2019s not forget those. Keir Starmer\u2019s government just signed a supply contract for five million doses<\/a>. Very odd for a country without a single case so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Again, all those stories are from the last 2 or 3 days, and they hit some major talking points. Transmissibility, tests, adapting to humans, containment measures for hospitals, \u201cincreased monitoring\u201d, buying up vaccines\u2026these are major red flags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is exactly in line with our predictions for the next pandemic made back in April<\/a>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n When will the \u201cnext pandemic\u201d happen? Probably not until the winter, I would guess January 2025 at the earliest, for two reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Is that<\/em> why the bird flu pandemic \u201chasn\u2019t happened yet\u201d?
