She says she doesn’t understand Elijah’s duel with the prophets of Baal, and then confuses Elijah and Elisha. She attributes Jezebel being a strong women oppressed by the patriarchal religious system of the day. There is a moment where she pauses, and looks like she’s listening to someone before carrying on. And she’s weirdly smiling through much of her ridiculous “sermon” which is a tell. And someone rightly pointed out in the comments where Jezebel led a crusade against the priests of God where those that lived had to hide in caves. And God was involved in her death having foretold how she would be eaten by wild dogs which indeed transpired. Consequently, in Revelation Christ told the church in Thyatira not to tolerate the woman Jezebel. thought to be a reference to Ahab’s Jezebel as a archetype, leading that church away from God. In the end you can conclude she doesn’t reverence or believe the Word of God, or even read it very diligently. She might even be locking in her eternal destination with her “religious diversity” and mockery of God.

https://protestia.com/2024/10/28/united-methodist-impastor-praises-and-defends-jezebel-in-wildest-sermons-ever/

Rev. Debra McKnight is the senior impastor and founder of Urban Abbey, a United Methodist Church. According to her bio, she is “passionate about connecting with the people and helping them grow in their faith” and an “advocate for social justice, women’s rights, and the LGBTQ+ community” where she seeks to “heal the wounds created by conservative Christianity.”

In a recent sermon, wearing her The Spirit of Jezebel shirt, McKnight claims that the “Jezebel Spirit” is basically any woman who is “competent, attractive, and smart,” just like Jezebel herself and presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

McKnight reveals that when she was getting married to her husband, she looked for a “biblical model of marriage” to highlight and represent her at her wedding She settled in on Jezebel and Ahab, calling them “true partners,” but ultimately decided to forgo her choice so she didin’t have to spend half the wedding explaining her affection and affinity for those two.

She admits that Jezebel made a mistake when she urged Ahab to kill the man for the vineyard, but argues that Jezebel didn’t do anything David didn’t do, and yet he was called a man after God’s heart, while she was unfairly labeled ‘the worst.’

Getting even more blasphemous, she praises all Jezebel’s good qualities and defends/ justifies her Asherah worship, saying she wasn’t the only one in Israel practicing this faith and in fact, was “bringing about an openness to religious diversity.”

She seems to lament that Elijah killed all the prophets of Baal “in an act of violence” and then wonders why we all can’t just forgive Jezebel, before going on a rant about men controlling women’s bodies.

Lastly, McKnight is delighted that the totems, household deities, and false idols were not all destroyed in Israel, reveling in the stories of them being hidden.
