Hebrews 1 is a wonderful chapter, with the book primarily being written by Paul to the Jews to prove that Christ was their Messiah using many Old Testament quotations. And that Christ was God is clear in scripture and the claim Jesus made more than once, and the Jews tried to stone Him to death for blasphemy realizing that He was claiming to be God. Which is funny in a way, as in the Old Testament the name Immanuel was given for the Christ, meaning God with us. Consequently, the Jews weren’t that familiar with their scriptures or they would have realized the time of their visitation. But John MacArthur had this wonderful note in his study Bible which I just really enjoyed this morning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hebrews 1:5<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

[5] For to which of the angels did God ever say,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou are my Son,\n    today I have begotten you\u201d?<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The word “today” indicates that God’s son was born in a point of time. He was always God, but he demonstrated his role as Son in space and time at his incarnation and was affirmed as such my his resurrection (Rom 1:4)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
There is also this wonderful scripture eluding to the destruction of the universe coming at the white throne judgement and then God creating a new heavens and earth where He will land the massive New Jerusalem<\/a> for all His believers to spend eternity with Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning,\n    and the heavens are the work of your hands;\n[11] they will perish, but you remain;\n    they will all wear out like a garment,\n[12] like a robe you will roll them up,\n    like a garment they will be changed.\nBut you are the same,\n    and your years will have no end.\u201d (ESV)<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
