Personally, I think this is all preparation in molding minds for that major cyberattack the WEF was warning us about<\/a>, because they have it planned. Consequently, it could be a major impetus for digital IDs and taking firm control of the internet. They were already toying with a law that would make VPNs illegal, and it’s hard to have privacy online already.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ADT confirmed this week that it was recently hacked, compromising some customer data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The home security company did not say when the cyberattack and data breach occurred, but disclosed that the attackers accessed the company\u2019s databases containing customer home addresses, email addresses and phone numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a brief regulatory filing<\/a> published late Wednesday, ADT said it has \u201cno reason to believe\u201d that customer home security systems were compromised during the incident, but ADT did not say how it reached that conclusion. The statement said a \u201csmall percentage\u201d of customers are affected, but did not provide a more specific number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of June 2024, ADT said it had six million customers<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The disclosure comes a week after a seller on a known cybercrime forum, seen by TechCrunch, claimed in a post on July 31 to have more than 30,000 customer records stolen from ADT. TechCrunch could not immediately verify the authenticity of the claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarah Bellinger, a spokesperson for ADT via a third-party agency, declined to answer TechCrunch\u2019s questions about the cyberattack and data breach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ADT is one of the largest home security companies in the United States. It is currently owned<\/a> by private equity giant Apollo Global Management, which also owns TechCrunch\u2019s parent company, Yahoo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
