And there won&#8217;t be enough tax revenue to continue doling out this kind of money. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanthinker.com\/blog\/2023\/12\/california_conservatives_flood_to_little_idaho_town_with_their_socialism_baggage_in_tow.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.americanthinker.com\/blog\/2023\/12\/california_conservatives_flood_to_little_idaho_town_with_their_socialism_baggage_in_tow.html<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-divider ub_divider ub-divider-orientation-horizontal\" id=\"ub_divider_7ec20957-b116-4a56-a7a0-c83988117e02\"><div class=\"ub_divider_wrapper\" style=\"position: relative; margin-bottom: 2px; width: 100%; height: 2px; \" data-divider-alignment=\"center\"><div class=\"ub_divider_line\" style=\"border-top: 2px solid #ccc; margin-top: 2px; \"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<p>By Olivia Murray<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve said this before and I\u2019ll say it again, just because a person flees the hard-left policies of California does not automatically mean he or she is a conservative\u2014in fact probably not really at all\u2014case in point, from a story published at Fox News today, in which we find \u201cconservatives\u201d who apparently think socialism is politically acceptable:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Retired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/us-regions\/west\/california\">California public employees<\/a> are flocking to Idaho with their pension funds and becoming the financial &#8220;lifeblood&#8221; of at least one Idaho town, ruffling feathers with some locals who are taking issue with the \u2018liberal baggage\u2019 of the new residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Los Angeles Times reported this month the town of Eagle, Idaho, has seen an influx of retired cops and firefighters moving to their town with many of them identifying as conservative but who \u2018seem practically socialist to the old guard\u2019 with their large pensions.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Eagle, Idaho is situated in the Boise Foothills just ten miles outside of the capital city, and the historically modest community has always been distinctly Idaho; but not so anymore:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Two California transplants squared off in the most recent mayoral race, and the key issue between the two former Golden State residents was \u2018who was the least Californian.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former Eagle, Idaho, Mayor Jason Pierce arrived in Idaho more than 20 years ago with no public pension and lost an election to a more recent arrival with a six-figure California fire captain\u2019s pension. Pierce told the outlet it was \u2018ludicrous\u2019 the new residents call themselves Republicans.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><em>For context, California is currently facing a <strong>$68 billion deficit<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pierce also noted that the six-figure pensions these retired government employees bring in are more than the \u201cworking people\u201d in Idaho make; recent Census data show that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/quickfacts\/fact\/table\/ID,US\/HSG860222\">median <em>household<\/em> income<\/a> in Idaho is $70,214, while the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/datacommons.org\/place\/geoId\/16\/?utm_medium=explore&amp;mprop=income&amp;popt=Person&amp;cpv=age,Years15Onwards&amp;hl=en\">median individual income<\/a>\u201d in 2021 was $30,621. Also from Fox:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u2018They want to give the same kind of benefits to officers and state employees here,\u2019 Pierce told the outlet. \u2018And it\u2019s like, \u2018Wait a minute, you literally created a huge deficit in California, and now you want to do the same thing here?\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Californians have been programmed in a way that they think they&#8217;re conservative, but then they move to a place like Eagle, Idaho, and they start asking for the same things that the government was providing them in California,\u2019 Pierce said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Honestly, they don&#8217;t even realize what they\u2019re doing, but you have to kind of go, \u2018Wait a minute, so you want your taxes to go up?
