The vision of Daniel 7 is full of so much prophecy and eschatology and is a rather remarkable chapter of scripture. We have the future world kingdoms presented as beasts, the current kingdom a lion with eagles wings representing the Babylonian Empire soon to end of which Daniel was a servant, the bear which was the Medo-Persian Empire who with Daniel’s urging would return the Jews to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple, the leopard with bird’s wings which represented the Greek Empire who conquered swiftly, and then the unnamed beast which is the Roman Empire to be revived and taken over by Antichrist in the final week of Daniel’s prophecy of the weeks or seven year periods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also shown is the Ancient of Days, God, in heaven with the Son of Man, Messiah, who will take over and rule the earth forever. We have the great white throne judgement eluded to after the earth is destroyed with all the books being opened for the unsaved to be judged by what they have done and that their names are not recorded in the Book of Life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And we have the end of the tribulation eluded to when the beast is killed and sent to the Lake of Fire. The last statement seems to be a clue eluding to the former beasts being prolonged for a season and a time. All the previous empires were absorbed by the conquering empire. And today we have the European Union which consists of 27 nations with many being part of the past Roman Empire. Perhaps if we look at the EU as one member of the 10, that would leave 9 more nations or unions to be joined, with three leaders replaced by Antichrist to take over and rule his one world government and persecute the people that come to saving faith in God during the tribulation. But we can look for the previous empire regions to be included in this final beast world empire. And much could change rather quickly, especially with the Rapture, God extracting His real followers from the earth. But that last statement just strikes me as an important piece of the puzzle in figuring out what is to come. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

[11] \u201cI looked then because of the sound of the great words that the horn was speaking. And as I looked, the beast was killed, and its body destroyed and given over to be burned with fire. Daniel\u2019s Vision of the Four Beasts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
[1] In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel saw a dream and visions of his head as he lay in his bed. Then he wrote down the dream and told the sum of the matter. [2] Daniel declared, \u201cI saw in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the great sea. [3] And four great beasts came up out of the sea, different from one another. [4] The first was like a lion and had eagles\u2019 wings. Then as I looked its wings were plucked off, and it was lifted up from the ground and made to stand on two feet like a man, and the mind of a man was given to it. [5] And behold, another beast, a second one, like a bear. It was raised up on one side. It had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth; and it was told, \u2018Arise, devour much flesh.\u2019 [6] After this I looked, and behold, another, like a leopard, with four wings of a bird on its back. And the beast had four heads, and dominion was given to it. [7] After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, terrifying and dreadful and exceedingly strong. It had great iron teeth; it devoured and broke in pieces and stamped what was left with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns. [8] I considered the horns, and behold, there came up among them another horn, a little one, before which three of the first horns were plucked up by the roots. And behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking great things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ancient of Days Reigns<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
[9] \u201cAs I looked,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
thrones were placed,\n and the Ancient of Days took his seat;\nhis clothing was white as snow,\n and the hair of his head like pure wool;\nhis throne was fiery flames;\n its wheels were burning fire.\n[10] A stream of fire issued\n and came out from before him;\na thousand thousands served him,\n and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him;\nthe court sat in judgment,\n and the books were opened.\n\n\n[11] \u201cI looked then because of the sound of the great words that the horn was speaking. And as I looked, the beast was killed, and its body destroyed and given over to be burned with fire. [13] \u201cI saw in the night visions,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and behold, with the clouds of heaven\n there came one like a son of man,\nand he came to the Ancient of Days\n and was presented before him.\n[14] And to him was given dominion\n and glory and a kingdom,\nthat all peoples, nations, and languages\n should serve him;\nhis dominion is an everlasting dominion,\n which shall not pass away,\nand his kingdom one\n that shall not be destroyed.<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\nDaniel\u2019s Vision Interpreted<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
[15] \u201cAs for me, Daniel, my spirit within me was anxious, and the visions of my head alarmed me. [16] I approached one of those who stood there and asked him the truth concerning all this. So he told me and made known to me the interpretation of the things. [17] \u2018These four great beasts are four kings who shall arise out of the earth. [18] But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever, forever and ever.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
[19] \u201cThen I desired to know the truth about the fourth beast, which was different from all the rest, exceedingly terrifying, with its teeth of iron and claws of bronze, and which devoured and broke in pieces and stamped what was left with its feet, [20] and about the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn that came up and before which three of them fell, the horn that had eyes and a mouth that spoke great things, and that seemed greater than its companions. [21] As I looked, this horn made war with the saints and prevailed over them, [22] until the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given for the saints of the Most High, and the time came when the saints possessed the kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
[23] \u201cThus he said: \u2018As for the fourth beast,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
there shall be a fourth kingdom on earth,\n which shall be different from all the kingdoms,\nand it shall devour the whole earth,\n and trample it down, and break it to pieces.\n[24] As for the ten horns,\nout of this kingdom ten kings shall arise,\n and another shall arise after them;\nhe shall be different from the former ones,\n and shall put down three kings.\n[25] He shall speak words against the Most High,\n and shall wear out the saints of the Most High,\n and shall think to change the times and the law;\nand they shall be given into his hand\n for a time, times, and half a time.\n[26] But the court shall sit in judgment,\n and his dominion shall be taken away,\n to be consumed and destroyed to the end.\n[27] And the kingdom and the dominion\n and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven\n shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High;\nhis kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom,\n and all dominions shall serve and obey him.\u2019\n\n\n[28] \u201cHere is the end of the matter.
