Two leaders opened the event Friday by ripping apart a Bible as well as tearing up a \u201cThin Blue Line\u201d flag commemorating police officers, Fox News reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One participant said the acts were undertaken to push back against oppression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe stand here today in defiance of their siege and destroy their symbols of oppression,\u201d she reportedly said to a cheering crowd. Some shouted \u201cHail Satan\u201d while she was tearing the Bible apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also spoke about the \u201cSupreme Court using [its] powers to decimate \u2026 rights.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSatanCon 2023\u201d commemorated the 10th anniversary of The Satanic Temple, a Satanist group that is essentially atheistic<\/a> in nature and rejects the existence of Lucifer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event attracted protestors, though some faith leaders called<\/a> for peaceful prayer rather than boisterous pushback. The Archdiocese of Boston was among those calling for people not to show up in opposition, with warnings doing so would bring the event more attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
