This wouldn’t stand if they put a microphone outside my home. Choices would be sabotage or move. I’d probably just buy some acreage out in the boonies with about an hour drive to Casper, Wyoming, for services and shopping as they have a Sam’s Club. The Cheyenne city council shills are ruining Cheyenne anyway with their surveillance network and bringing in all the surveillance data centers… Checking the deflock.me map for Casper<\/a>, only two cameras in nearby Glenrock so far. With time, I think a lot of Wyomingites will run the surveillance tech state out and push out these prostitute politicians. But with migration from Colorado, Cheyenne might be cooked, with the poison spreading like Denver through Colorado…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The law\u2019s gaze has grown harder to escape, as surveillance drones<\/a> and AI-integrated cameras<\/a> now track movement across public and private spaces alike. And as one Virginia resident recently discovered, Johnny Law is a good listener, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to reporting by Virginia\u2019s WSLS 10<\/em><\/a>, Kat Vaughn of Roanoke was alarmed to discover a Flock audio detection pole had been erected in her front yard. Vaughn told the station that she returned home from a brief trip to a nearby park to discover the freshly-installed device sitting in the parkway strip<\/a>, the section of public land between her lawn and the street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ominous pylon was later identified as a Flock Raven audio detection unit, after a police officer was dispatched to investigate. These devices are basically the police tech firm Flock Safety\u2019s<\/a> version of the infamous ShotSpotter sensors, a category of audio-surveillance devices which legal analysts say<\/a> come with significant civil liberty and privacy concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of providing clarity, identifying the device has only created more questions for Vaughn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen the officer got out here, he wasn\u2019t sure what it was either,\u201d the Virginia resident told WSLS<\/em>. \u201cSo, we went and got a tall ladder to be able to get up to take a picture of it closer. And he said, yeah, I think you\u2019re right. It\u2019s a gun surveillance device. And he said that they actually weren\u2019t supposed to be installed until July.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though WSLS <\/em>reports the Roanoke city council had approved the deployment<\/a> of 75 Raven sensors at various locations throughout the city, the patch of land in front of Vaughn\u2019s house wasn\u2019t on the list. Vaughn says she\u2019s still waiting for an explanation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
