Are they finally going to stop trolling the American public with time changes? It was odd that many states have passed bills to keep Daylight Savings Time year round, but it was federally illegal. States could have gone the way of Arizona and just kept regular time until the law was rescinded. And it is one of many ways to stress the public. Could this point to something in the works that will stress out citizens enough they’ll give them this win? Or is just trying to survive with current inflation stressful enough for those managing the sheeple?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(The Epoch Times<\/a>)\u2014The House Energy and Commerce Committee on May 21 advanced a bill that would make daylight saving time permanent year-round and put the current practice of changing clocks twice a year to an end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sunshine Protection Act was passed in a 48\u20131 vote. The bill was sponsored by Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.) and Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) and was added as a provision to the Motor Vehicle Modernization Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re one step closer to locking the clock for good,\u201d Buchanan said in a post on X. \u201cI\u2019m grateful to [President Donald Trump]\u2014with his support, I\u2019m confident we can finally get this across the finish line.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buchanan said in a statement<\/a> the change could help improve public health, reduce traffic accidents and crime, and encourage more outdoor activity. He has pushed for the bill\u2019s passage since 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a Truth Social post<\/a>, Trump praised the House vote on the legislation and said he would \u201cwork very hard\u201d to have it signed into law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is so important in that Hundreds of Millions of Dollars are spent every year by people, Cities, and States, being forced to change their Clocks,\u201d the president wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s time that people can stop worrying about the \u2018Clock,\u2019 not to mention all of the work and money that is spent on this ridiculous, twice yearly production.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The legislation still needs to clear the full U.S. House, after which the U.S. Senate would consider it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October 2025, Scott brought the bill to the Senate floor for quick passage but senators failed<\/a> to reach consensus on the measure despite bipartisan support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis bill is about states\u2019 rights,\u201d Scott said at the time. \u201cIt allows the people of each state to choose what best fits their needs and the needs of their families.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) opposed the bill, saying that making daylight saving time permanent would push winter sunrises to an absurdly late hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor many Arkansans, permanent Daylight Savings Time would mean the sun wouldn\u2019t rise until after 8:00 or even 8:30 a.m. during the dead of winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThree months out of the year, kids in towns like Bentonville, Fayetteville, and Fort Smith would start school ahead of the sun,\u201d Cotton said on the Senate floor in October 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daylight saving time is the practice of setting the clocks forward one hour during the summer half of the year, which has been observed in nearly all of the \u2060United \u200bStates since the 1960s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scott, while serving as governor of Florida in 2018, signed a bill exempting the state from the twice-annual clock change, pending approval at the federal level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2022, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) cosponsored an identical bill, which passed the Senate but was never brought to a vote in the House.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
