(Zeus Github Readme below) I had finally got around to installing the Zeus Lightning Wallet, and I’ve been impressed with it. Since I run my own Bitcoin and Lightning nodes using Raspiblitz<\/a>, their menu made setting it up to access to my Ligntning nodes really easy by just scanning QR codes generated from the connect menu. The wallet supports the fingerprint reader for access once you setup a PIN, and in my case I bypassed using Tor as I can just connect to my home network via VPN to access my nodes if away from the house. But being retired, I’m mostly home and on the local network. I prefer mine to open on the balance screen below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And this gives you complete control over your node for managing channels and making or receiving payments, and showing the balance of the channels. You can see I have just the one channel opened to Mullvad VPN with $256.51 available to spend with limited inbound capacity which I don’t really need at the moment. If you needed inbound capacity, you could just open a channel to someone else and loop out your funds on-chain, or pay or get someone to open a channel to you with inbound capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, you can use your LND on-chain wallet to send and receive Bitcoin, as well as make Lightning payments. Most of the transactions are me experimenting, but there were some real Lightning purchases in there as well, that went straight through, including adding a month to Mullvad VPN. Mullvad VPN’s Lightning node is well connected, and they’re not requiring a minimal balance compared to some big server runners in the space, as well as a privacy respecting entity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And running your own node, you can also install Ride The Lightning and manage your node through your browser which I had previously been using for payments (below). But Zeus makes using it on your phone a lot easier and you can use the camera to scan transaction QR codes. And Zeus also has an embedded node that can run on your phone if you don’t have a Lightning node, which could be an interesting option if you want a bit more privacy over using Aqua<\/a>, Bull<\/a> or Phoenix<\/a> Wallets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
