This is worth a view for the video clips she plays. They were using AI as the excuse to layoff workers, but were actually hiring people outside of the country at a fraction of the cost. But there is another angle to consider, instead of reacting to the economic depression inbound, perhaps they’re proactively doing the layoffs to get the savings on the balance sheet. When I worked for AT&T at the end, we had our executive come to the center and tell us his directive was to cut his budget a certain percentage per year, having nothing to do with actual work needs, quality control, customer satisfaction… And in fairness to some corporations, some directors and managers are in a position of maintaining their budgets and fiefdoms, so instead of properly adjusting employees to the workload, they maintain the headcount. And I kid you not, there was a time I could complete my work in a couple hours, but wasn’t allowed to go home unpaid for the rest of the day even though requested. I sat at my desk watching Netflix, listening to audio books, podcasts… while being paid a lot of money by AT&T. Eventually, our center took on new work months later, but that was a significant waste of money (before bossware when you could create an encrypted SSH tunnel to a home computer to get to anything on the internet unseen by IT). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
