I don’t think its unreasonable to think that eventually they’ll just grab you up and say you signed up for MAiD so they can remove you and your organs for someone else in one foul swoop. Or incarcerate you and do likewise. And you might want to think twice about having organ donor on your license no matter where you live, as they’re killing you to take your organs<\/a> already, and white coats have proven to be ghouls we just can’t trust anymore. Canada\u2019s controversial assisted-suicide program is moving into even darker territory as the nation accelerates its practice of harvesting organs from euthanasia victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The state-sanctioned practice, called \u201cMedical Assistance in Dying\u201d (MAiD), has already claimed tens of thousands of lives since 2016, and is now fueling a growing supply of donor organs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ethicists are warning that the system risks pressuring vulnerable people into death for the benefit of healthier recipients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Canadian government continues to expand its euthanasia regime, the MAiD program is generating a surge in the organ donation supply chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Chilling First<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Post reported<\/a> that the heart of a 38-year-old Canadian man euthanised under MAiD was successfully harvested and transplanted into a 59-year-old American man with heart failure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case was the first known heart transplant following a state-administered lethal injection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A report by The University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre and The Ottawa Hospital documented the procedure:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHere we report the first case of successful cardiac transplantation after MAiD,\u201d the medical team wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cProvision of MAiD and death determination occurred in keeping with Canadian standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDeath was declared within seven minutes of initiating the MAiD protocol.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The donor, who suffered from ALS, had volunteered to donate his organs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doctors removed the heart, attached it to a machine that \u201creanimates\u201d or restarts the heart to keep blood flowing, and then sent it to Pittsburgh for the transplant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A \u2018World Leader\u2019 in Organ Donation After Euthanasia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was no isolated case, however.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although this was the first heart transplant, there have already been numerous liver, kidney, and lung transplants from euthanised patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to federal data, \u201cat least 155 people in Canada have donated their organs and tissues after receiving a doctor-administered lethal injection\u201d since 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canada has already become a \u201cworld leader\u201d in organ donation after euthanasia (ODE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Dutch study showed that of 286 ODE cases up to 2021, 136 were Canadian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to CIHI data, 235 people have \u201cconsented\u201d to organ donation after being euthanised, and 5 percent of all organ transplants in 2024 used organs from euthanised Canadians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pro-lifers and ethicists warn that this creates a deadly incentive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the report itself stated, \u201cWhile longer-term data and data on additional cases will be required, this case suggests that safe cardiac transplantation can be performed after MAiD.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Societal Pressure\u2019 on the Vulnerable<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even pro-MAiD medical professionals admit the process is fraught.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A review cited<\/a> by the National Post found that \u201chow, and when, to approach people requesting MAiD about organ donation is controversial and varies in Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Ontario and British Columbia, organ-donation groups recommend that patients be informed about the option; in Alberta and Manitoba, patients are not told unless they ask first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNot informing patients about the possibility of donation can prevent them from exploring the opportunity to donate their organs and negatively impact their autonomy,\u201d the review\u2019s authors wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhile informing them of this possibility may cause undue societal pressure for donation, and the desire to become a donor may be a driver for the MAiD request.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The authors also warned:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSome patients may feel they are a burden to their family and friends and feel motivated to undergo MAiD to relieve this burden,\u201d urging assessors to watch for \u201cpotential indicators that the patient may somehow be feeling pressured to proceed with MAiD or MAiD and organ donation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given how lax Canadian MAiD oversight has been so far, many ethicists doubt assessors can be trusted to protect patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reports show<\/a> that up to a quarter of Ontario MAiD providers may have violated the criminal code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Organ Harvesting After Euthanasia Looks Like<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belgian medical journal Applied Cardiopulmonary Pathophysiology detailed how such procedures are carried out: donors are brought to the hospital just hours before euthanasia, prepped with a central venous line and heparin to maintain organ viability, given a lethal drug cocktail, and then declared dead by three independent physicians before being rushed to an operating room for organ removal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ethicist Wesley J. Smith described one case as a \u201cbitter irony.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPonder the enormity of what was done here,\u201d Smith wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFour people \u2014 who were not otherwise dying \u2014 were killed and then swiftly wheeled into a surgery suite to have their organs removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThree of the donors were struggling with neuromuscular disabilities \u2014 people who often face social isolation and discrimination \u2014 and one was mentally ill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn a particularly bitter irony, the latter patient was a chronic self-harmer, the \u2018treatment\u2019 for which was a willing professional team ready to administer the ultimate harm.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Disturbing New Normal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canada\u2019s euthanasia system<\/a>, already among the most permissive<\/a> in the world, is now doubling as an organ-harvesting supply chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Critics warn the combination of assisted death and organ donation risks creating a highly profitable two-tier system where vulnerable people are railroaded into \u201cvoluntary\u201d death to benefit healthier recipients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pro-lifers say it\u2019s not compassion, it\u2019s commodification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And with organ donation after euthanasia now normalized and even celebrated in medical journals, the question is no longer whether Canada will expand the practice, but how far it will go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
