And why you don’t want your ISP’s WiFi router. I’m a fan of running a regular router without WiFi and a commercial grade WiFi Access Point. I’m currently using an Ubiquiti AP purchased years ago, with a newer MikroTik<\/a> router<\/a> that will work with open firmware which was the original plan, but I’ve actually been happy with MikroTik’s firmware<\/a> that is updated and upgraded regularly, even more than Ubiquiti’s. And soon I’ll move to a MikroTik AP. MikroTik also has software<\/a> for managing their routers which is much easier than using the web interface, and you also get advanced functionality as they make serious equipment for networking, so not exactly consumer friendly. But easy enough with a little homework, and they have videos to help you on YouTube<\/a>. And worth pointing out, the digital Panopticon they’re building around us is getting pretty sinister, especially if you look at the AI agents that will spy on everything you do on your computer<\/a>, bypassing your attempts to be private using encryption, beyond anything Orwell predicted<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
