As this chapter of Isaiah was a scathing warning for Israel before their destruction, it’s totally accurate for our society today. And a part that struck me was the lying. I’ve been watching the Tow Goat on YouTube, and as he’s repossessing vehicles, people rush out quick to lie, that they’ve made their payment, then they were going to make their payment… The wife was watching a show about people taking in felons being released on parole, and they just lie as everyone is a mark to be taken advantage of which some openly admit. But it trickles down throughout all of society with much of social media being lies as people portray themselves as something they are not. And our supposed leaders lie so much it’s more noteworthy when they actually say something that is true and accurate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nIsaiah 59:3\u20134<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
[3] ...\nyour lips have spoken lies;\n your tongue mutters wickedness.\n[4] No one enters suit justly;\n no one goes to law honestly;\nthey rely on empty pleas, they speak lies,\n they conceive mischief and give birth to iniquity. (ESV)<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\nBut what prompted me to write this post is this one aspect God highlighted below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nIsaiah 59:14\u201315<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
[14] Justice is turned back,\n and righteousness stands far away;\nfor truth has stumbled in the public squares,\n and uprightness cannot enter.\n[15] Truth is lacking,\n and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey.<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\nAs the righteous are safe from God’s wrath through repentance and faith in Christ, their uprightness makes them prey for the unrighteous world they are surrounded by. This is the price of turning to God, as you’ll end up paying a price for your break with the evil world system. It can be persecution within a family, persecution on the job… As your failure to be as the people around you are, you become a unrelenting light exposing their iniquity, and they will hate you for it. And in some parts of the world they will even put you to death. But Christ has overcome the world, and this evil age is about to come to an end when Christ returns to rule the earth in His kingdom of righteousness and swift justice. Maranatha!<\/p>\n\n\n

Evil and Oppression<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
[1] Behold, the LORD\u2019s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save,\n or his ear dull, that it cannot hear;\n[2] but your iniquities have made a separation\n between you and your God,\nand your sins have hidden his face from you\n so that he does not hear.\n[3] For your hands are defiled with blood\n and your fingers with iniquity;\nyour lips have spoken lies;\n your tongue mutters wickedness.\n[4] No one enters suit justly;\n no one goes to law honestly;\nthey rely on empty pleas, they speak lies,\n they conceive mischief and give birth to iniquity.\n[5] They hatch adders\u2019 eggs;\n they weave the spider\u2019s web;\nhe who eats their eggs dies,\n and from one that is crushed a viper is hatched.\n[6] Their webs will not serve as clothing;\n men will not cover themselves with what they make.\nTheir works are works of iniquity,\n and deeds of violence are in their hands.\n[7] Their feet run to evil,\n and they are swift to shed innocent blood;\ntheir thoughts are thoughts of iniquity;\n desolation and destruction are in their highways.\n[8] The way of peace they do not know,\n and there is no justice in their paths;\nthey have made their roads crooked;\n no one who treads on them knows peace.\n\n\n[9] Therefore justice is far from us,\n and righteousness does not overtake us;\nwe hope for light, and behold, darkness,\n and for brightness, but we walk in gloom.\n[10] We grope for the wall like the blind;\n we grope like those who have no eyes;\nwe stumble at noon as in the twilight,\n among those in full vigor we are like dead men.\n[11] We all growl like bears;\n we moan and moan like doves;\nwe hope for justice, but there is none;\n for salvation, but it is far from us.\n[12] For our transgressions are multiplied before you,\n and our sins testify against us;\nfor our transgressions are with us,\n and we know our iniquities:\n[13] transgressing, and denying the LORD,\n and turning back from following our God,\nspeaking oppression and revolt,\n conceiving and uttering from the heart lying words.\n\n\nJudgment and Redemption<\/strong>\n\n[14] Justice is turned back,\n and righteousness stands far away;\nfor truth has stumbled in the public squares,\n and uprightness cannot enter.\n[15] Truth is lacking,\n and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey.\n\n\n The LORD saw it, and it displeased him\n that there was no justice.\n[16] He saw that there was no man,\n and wondered that there was no one to intercede;\nthen his own arm brought him salvation,\n and his righteousness upheld him.\n[17] He put on righteousness as a breastplate,\n and a helmet of salvation on his head;\nhe put on garments of vengeance for clothing,\n and wrapped himself in zeal as a cloak.\n[18] According to their deeds, so will he repay,\n wrath to his adversaries, repayment to his enemies;\n to the coastlands he will render repayment.\n[19] So they shall fear the name of the LORD from the west,\n and his glory from the rising of the sun;\nfor he will come like a rushing stream,\n which the wind of the LORD drives.\n\n\n[20] \u201cAnd a Redeemer will come to Zion,\n to those in Jacob who turn from transgression,\u201d declares the LORD.\n\n\n[21] \u201cAnd as for me, this is my covenant with them,\u201d says the LORD: \u201cMy Spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your offspring, or out of the mouth of your children\u2019s offspring,\u201d says the LORD, \u201cfrom this time forth and forevermore.\u201d (ESV)<\/code><\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"As this chapter of Isaiah was a scathing warning for Israel before their destruction, it’s totally accurate for our society today.
