In a groundbreaking advancement in genetic medicine, a baby in the United States has become the first person to be treated with a personalized CRISPR gene-editing therapy, marking a historic moment for science and the future of rare disease treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a report by ScienceAlert<\/a>, the infant was born with a rare and deadly genetic condition known as congenital CD40L deficiency, a disorder that leaves the immune system unable to fight infections effectively. Without treatment, the disease is often fatal early in life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To execute the treatment, scientists extracted the baby\u2019s stem cells, used CRISPR to edit the faulty gene, and then reinfused the corrected cells back into the child\u2019s body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
