I have a <a href=\"https:\/\/jasonsblog.ddns.net\/index.php\/2024\/08\/25\/telegram-founder-pavel-durov-arrested-in-france\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">post<\/a> that has a detailed review with two telling things, no source code for server side, and choosing their own cryptographic solution instead of tried and trusted protocols. They&#8217;re also <a href=\"https:\/\/jasonsblog.ddns.net\/index.php\/2025\/01\/07\/telegram-answered-900-us-requests-for-user-data-in-2024-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cooperating with governments<\/a> as well. Toncoin, <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/toncoin-price-index\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$3.45<\/a>, the native cryptocurrency of The Open Network (TON), spiked over 18% in market price, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.cointelegraph.com\/\">data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro<\/a> and TradingView.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">First report on Durov\u2019s case in France since late 2024<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The unconfirmed reports suggest that Durov has either settled his case in France or received permission to leave the country while the court case is ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durov did not confirm his departure on social media by publishing time, while the French government officials are yet to issue a public statement, should the news be the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As previously reported, Durov was <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/telegram-ceo-pavel-durov-arrested-france\">abruptly arrested by French authorities<\/a> at Le Bourget airport in Paris in August 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>France\u2019s Prosecutor\u2019s Office, or Parquet de Paris, promptly <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Jacques_Pezet\/status\/1828881941745017122\">issued<\/a> a statement on preliminary charges to Durov on Aug. 28, accusing the Telegram founder of facilitating a platform that enables illicit transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prosecutors claimed that Durov was <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/telegram-founder-pavel-durov-questioned-paris-court-report\">facing up to 10 years of prison time<\/a> in addition to a 500,000 euros ($550,000) fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/telegram-ceo-pavel-durov-france-court\">Durov was released from French custody<\/a> on Aug. 28 after posting a $6 million bail.
