Is this the established home break in time? Luckily for my would be intruders they got to hear me rack a round on my 1911 and fled. Consequently, you&#8217;re not too sharp getting woke up that early, and not knowing it was fully legal I made up my mind to shoot whoever came through the door not even bothering to look for weapons (it&#8217;s dark). Turned out that in California that is legal due to a castle doctrine law passed because of the Night Stalker serial killer who was active in the 80&#8217;s (learned when I got my state firearms license the next weekend for Brinks Armored). (ESV)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/2-dead-breaking-wrong-home-meeting-teen-rambo-took-no-prisoners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/2-dead-breaking-wrong-home-meeting-teen-rambo-took-no-prisoners\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-divider ub_divider ub-divider-orientation-horizontal\" id=\"ub_divider_d2dd888f-4e62-4960-a896-730b105ccf62\"><div class=\"ub_divider_wrapper\" style=\"position: relative; margin-bottom: 2px; width: 100%; height: 2px; \" data-divider-alignment=\"center\"><div class=\"ub_divider_line\" style=\"border-top: 2px solid #ccc; margin-top: 2px; \"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<p>By Jack Davis<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A young Kentucky resident was more than a match for two men who broke into a home on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shortly before 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, Kentucky State Police were informed of a shooting that took place in Manchester after the Manchester Police Department wanted assistance, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kentuckystatepolice.ky.gov\/news\/p11-2-16-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">news release<\/a> from the Kentucky State Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The news release said two men <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/homeowner-reportedly-kills-invader-suspects-gun-like-movie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">forced their way<\/a> into a home and were seeking to steal guns from a safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDuring the break-in, a juvenile resident of the home discovered the intruders and saw them holding firearms,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Kentucky child shot, killed alleged armed home invaders in self-defense, police say <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/806uqOjgyC\">https:\/\/t.co\/806uqOjgyC<\/a><\/p>&mdash; USA TODAY (@USATODAY) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USATODAY\/status\/1892006234003300548?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 19, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe juvenile, acting in self-defense, retrieved a handgun and shot both men before escaping through a bedroom window,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dead men were identified as Roger Smith 44 of McKee, who died at a nearby hospital, and Jeffrey Allen 51 of Manchester, who died at the scene..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Manchester Police Chief Jeff Couch told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/kentucky-child-shoots-kills-2-home-invaders-rcna192833\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NBC<\/a> that no one else was<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/three-punks-allegedly-attempt-midday-burglary-homeowner-shoots-one-creates-nightmare-two\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> at home<\/a> at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Couch said the gun belonged to the father of the teen who fought back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The teen was not taken into custody, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police did not say how old the juvenile was who killed the would-be robbers, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsaz.com\/2025\/02\/17\/child-shoots-kills-2-home-intruders-self-defense-police-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WSAZ-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Across America, homeowners rely upon the Second Amendment for protection, as noted by Amy Swearer in an Op-Ed for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/firearms\/commentary\/the-second-amendment-saved-these-gun-owners-lives-april\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Heritage Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe right to keep and bear arms is based on the natural, immutable right to defend oneself and one\u2019s liberties from crime and tyranny,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, too many well-intentioned people today advocate severely restricting the ability of law-abiding Americans to defend themselves and others with the most effective firearms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey believe that Americans rarely use firearms to protect their rights and liberties, and they think commonly proposed gun control laws will meaningfully address gun-related violence.&nbsp;But the reality is quite different,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAmericans use guns in self-defense on&nbsp;far more occasions&nbsp;than criminals use them to commit crimes. Yet those defensive gun uses rarely receive the amount of attention given to criminal gun uses,\u201d she said, calling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/alleged-burglar-armed-pitchfork-no-match-homeowner-hands-wasnt-gun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">everyday Americans<\/a> who defend their homes \u201cunderreported good guys using a gun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMost lawful gun owners understand the gravity of taking another human life, even in lawful self-defense.
