On the positive, as countries look to capitalize on the returns of a deflationary currency outside the control of any one country, they shouldn’t act to devalue their holdings. Fidelity Digital Assets research analyst Matt Hogan said not making any Bitcoin allocation could become more of a risk to nations than making one.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Countries are expected to add Bitcoin into national strategic reserves in 2025, kicking off significant growth in the crypto market, Fidelity Digital Assets said in its latest research paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe anticipate more nation-states, central banks, sovereign wealth funds, and government treasuries will look to establish strategic positions in Bitcoin,\u201d said Fidelity Digital Assets research analyst Matt Hogan in the firm\u2019s Jan. 7 paper<\/a> titled \u201c2025 Look Ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that these entities may take notice of the playbook employed by Bhutan and El Salvador<\/a> \u201cand the substantial returns they have been able to glean from such positions in a relatively short amount of time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that not making any Bitcoin BTC $93,050<\/a> allocation could become more of a risk to nations than making one due to challenges such as debilitating inflation, currency debasement and increasingly crushing fiscal deficits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the US goes ahead with its Bitcoin strategic reserve<\/a> plans, \u201cit is likely that nation-states would begin accumulating in secret,\u201d Hogan said. \u201cNo nation has an incentive to announce these plans, as doing so could influence more buyers and drive up the price.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hogan also predicted that digital asset-structured and managed products would \u201cgo mainstream\u201d in 2025, adding it was \u201cdifficult to overstate the success\u201d of spot Bitcoin and Ether ETH $3,218.82<\/a> exchange-traded funds<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith the initial success of these products, it would not be unreasonable to expect 2025 to bring about more structured passive and actively managed digital asset products to the world of TradFi.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Hogan also predicted that tokenization<\/a> will be the \u201ckiller app\u201d of 2025, with onchain value doubling from $14 billion to $30 billion by the end of the year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTokenization is often seen as a buzzword in the world of blockchain technology, but its potential in financial services and beyond is only beginning to be realized,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fidelity researchers said investors should \u201cprepare for acceleration\u201d with \u201cincreased adoption, development, interest in, and demand for digital assets.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They added that \u201cinvestors are not too late to join the digital asset movement\u201d and believed \u201cwe may be entering the dawn of a new era for digital assets, one poised to span multiple years \u2014 if not decades.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
