So you&#8217;d have to think they have access to all the major platforms. However, the platform reportedly responded to 900 total inquiries from the US for the year, affecting 2,253 users, suggesting that the number of requests escalated after October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Aug. 24, French authorities <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/breaking-telegram-ceo-pavel-durov-allegedly-arrested-in-france\">arrested Durov over allegations<\/a> Telegram facilitated criminal activity. The CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/telegram-ip-address-disclosure-since-2018-durov\">said in October<\/a> that the platform had been providing IP addresses and phone numbers of alleged criminals to authorities in different countries upon request since 2018 \u2014 a policy disclosed in Telegram\u2019s privacy policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2025-01\/01944183-7c53-7bbd-b3ae-3faa6aadbd0a\" alt=\"Privacy, Telegram, United States, Pavel Durov\" title=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>X post from Telegram CEO after his Aug. 24 arrest.
